Hubei Shuangquan Hot Spring Hotel is situated in Jingmen, a renowned historical and cultural hub in Hubei Province, often referred to as the "Gateway to Jingchu". As a pivotal site for the preservation of Jingchu culture, Jingmen reflects the rich historical legacy of the Jingchu civilization during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. The hotel's interior design weaves in elements of Jingchu culture and the aforementioned historical eras, with a view to reviving the local profound cultural heritage through contemporary design, offering guests a remarkable hotel experience.
Upon entering the hotel, the color palette of black, grey, and natural wood establishes the emotional ambiance of the entire space. In ancient China, black was generally associated with solemnity and authority, a sentiment echoed in Chu culture, where the Chu people revered black as a representation of their ancestors' deep power and the cosmos. Grey, being a shade derived from black, maintains this sense of gravity, while the wood tones introduce a gentle, natural texture that balances the overall seriousness of the environment.
The space is characterized by the use of large blocks and an impressive overhead structural design. A large amount of grille and frame elements are pivotal to the interior aesthetics, particularly evident in the lobby ceiling, the back wall, and the ceiling of the dining area. These design features notably embody the architectural and cultural traits of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, while the uniform grille elements contribute to a heightened sense of visual order within the environment.
As a spa resort hotel that emphasizes its connection to nature, the lobby, restaurant, and atrium areas achieve a strong indoor-outdoor relationship. This is facilitated by the extensive grille design and properly placed window openings, promoting a sense of perspective and optimize the influx of natural light. Consequently, this design approach enhances the visual and sensory harmony between the interior and exterior spaces.
